Aleksey Arkhipov has worked on acoustic methods for the control of artificial soil massifs since the 1970s, first at the All-Russian Research and Development Institute of Exploration Methods (VITR) and, from 2006, at Geodiagnostics LLC, which he founded and directs. He developed the APZ-1 crosshole sounding apparatus and the tables of diagnostic characteristics by which the condition of concrete, soil-cement and frozen soil fences is determined in place.
